The Dutch goalkeeper made his senior debut for Chris Wilder's side after signing in the summer, as Wilder made 11 changes from the side that had lost at Liverpool on January 2.

But his debut was cut short after he collided with his own defender Kean Bryan and, after lengthy treatment on the field, was replaced by Dean Henderson.

And Verrips posted on Instagram: "Disappointed I had to leave the pitch with concussion, but hopefully back on the pitch in a few days.

"Despite everything I’m very happy we won the game and pleased to make my debut for Sheffield United.

"Thanks for all the messages of support from the fans. I really appreciate it."
