Sheffield United produced another giant-killing performance in the FA Cup this week with the scalp of Fulham. Now who would bet against the Blades carrying on their cup exploits?
United were cut to 200/1 from 250/1 with BetVictor to go all the way and lift the Cup. However avoiding relegation from League One will surely be Nigel Clough’s main aim for the season; 2/9 for a bottom half finish and 5/1 to go down with BetVictor.
Saturday saw Clough’s side lose 3-0 at Crewe Alexandra, the poorest defence in the league. That defeat moved them to second bottom and just a point above Stevenage Boro. United do have two games in hand however and host both Shrewsbury and Brentford at Bramall Lane inside four days, starting with the Shrews’ arrival on Saturday.
Brentford remain 6/4 favourites for the title and will be dangerous but the arrival of Shrewsbury looks a fantastic opportunity to climb out the relegation places; United 8/11 favourites, the Shrews 9/2 and 11/4 the draw with BetVictor.
Shrewsbury scored a last minute equaliser to end a run of four straight defeats against Brentford but their defence looks especially susceptible, conceding three goals in their last two away from home and a Blades 3-1 win looks the value at 16/1 with BetVictor.
Rotherham beat early pace-setters Leyton Orient 2-1 at the New York Stadium on Saturday; The O’s 4/7 on for promotion but no match for Steve Evans’ side. Rotherham remain in good form and should transfer that to the Colchester Community Stadium, Rotherham 21/20 favourites with BetVictor, The U’s 21/20 and the draw 5/2.
In the Championship Sheffield Wednesday sank Barnsley to extend their unbeaten run to 10 in all competitions and Stuart Gray looks to be doing enough to save the Owls from relegation. The same cannot be said about Barnsley however. The Reds remain 1/3 on to go down with BetVictor
Wednesday’s streak is put to the test with a trip to Reading on Saturday. BetVictor make Reading 20/23 favourites, Wednesday 18/5 and the draw 5/2.
Barnsley bid to bounce back against Ipswich Town.Barnsley are 85/40, Ipswich 6/4 and the draw 23/10. Rovers face Brighton who are 11/20 favourites with BetVictor, Rovers 13/2 and the draw 3/1.
