George Baldock insists Sheffield United's players will be as fit as any others in the Premier League - if and when the season does return after the Covid-19 suspension.

Baldock and his teammates have returned to United's Shirecliffe training ground, on an individual basis, after the Premier League were told by UEFA to come up with a definitive plan to restart the season by the middle of next month.

United's players have been undergoing detailed, tailored training plans at home in the break, but Baldock admitted it felt "great" to be back at Shirecliffe - despite the strange circumstances.

"It felt better before than after, considering what we got put through!" Baldock smiled.

"It was great to see a few familiar faces, from a distance, and gave me a bit of positivity that things might come back soon.

"I feel really fit... we've all had to stay on top of our weight, sending in pictures of the scales. There's no shortcuts. Everything has been recorded, and no stone has been left unturned. We'll come back as good as anyone."

Baldock and Co. were delivered Wattbikes by the club when Shirecliffe was closed, following the suspension of all football in England and Wales last month.

"They've been linked up to our phones and heartrate monitors, and it's been really tough to be fair. Then we've had another session in the evening, and had to do leg weights as well on top of that."
