Sheffield United fought back from 2-0 down to snatch a share of the spoils against Bradford City at Valley Parade.

The Blades had gone into the Sunday encounter off the back of two home losses to Bury and Colchester United, a surprising turnaround given their form previous to that brace of defeats.

And United fans who had made the trip to West Yorkshire must have feared the worst as they saw their side go a goal down on 33 minutes through James Meredith, who latched onto to yet more poor defending from United before looping the ball over Mark Howard.

United did rally and saw a lot of the ball but failed to create too many clear chances; the half ending with the Bantams in front.

But that lead was doubled shortly after the restart when further defensive mistakes allowed former Barnsley loanee Devante Cole the chance to nip through on goal and his effort deflected off David Edgar and past Howard.

Crucially from a United point of view they pulled one back with plenty of time remaining and in fortuitous circumstances as on 65 minutes, a cross from the right was glanced into his own goal by Meredith with Chris Basham in front of him providing the distraction.

And five minutes later Nigel Adkins side leveled through striking talisman Billy Sharp who latched onto a superb ball from Jose Baxter and fired home after his initial attempt had been saved.

And Baxter proved to be one of the most important Blades on the pitch in the end as with seconds remaining the midfielder brilliantly headed off the line when City looked certain to score.
