Former Manchester United wonderkid set for international debut after joining Middlesbrough on loan from Sheffield United

Dalton Wint, the general secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation, revealed the news as the Reggae Boyz look to increase the options at their disposal ahead of their qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup finals.

Morrison joined United in the summer on a free transfer but struggled to break into Chris Wilder’s team. The former Manchester United wonderkid, described by Sir Alex Ferguson as the most talented youngster he had ever worked with, joined Championship side Middlesbrough on loan in January, and has spoken to Jamaica boss Roy Simpson.

“From what I have seen and what was said by Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United manager, he is a quality player and let’s hope he will continue to have that quality,” Wint said.

“I think that he can be a great addition. He is also very experienced.

He has travelled a lot and he has played in different systems and so he can definitely bring something to the table for us.”

Morrison was granted Jamaican citizenship in 2018.

“The coach has gone on record to say that he needs some support in his defence and in the midfield,” Wint added.

“Remember you need to get as deep as you possible can in the different areas, because the World Cup qualifiers are all tough matches,” Wint said.
