Indeed, George Baldock has insisted that Sheffield United’s current predicament is not because of a lack of effort after they suffered their latest defeat of a miserable season.
United went down 2-0 at home to Southampton, ensuring they remain bottom of the Premier League and another game closer to a return to the Championship.
And Baldock said: “It’s disappointing once again, we’ve come up short and it’s hard to take.
“It’s not through lack of effort, the boys are trying their hardest, and it’s hard to talk about because it’s such a stark contrast to last year. It’s not a nice feeling.
“That’s the story of the season, key moments in big parts of the game, and as a whole group we’ve come up short.
“I’m not making any excuses, whoever’s out there has a duty to put in 110 per cent for our fans. We’re trying our best, we’re just really disappointed.”
But, as always, there is still plenty of transfer talk swirling around the internet this morning...
