Ex-Manchester United ace gives verdict on Dean Henderson's Sheffield United future

This summer, the Red Devils will decide whether to allow the England hopeful to return to Bramall Lane for the 2020/21 campaign - an outcome looks likely, given the slim chances of Henderson leapfrogging David de Gea into the number one slot for next season.

Speaking to Goal, ex-Manchester United star Paul Ince claimed another season at S2 would be beneficial to the 23-year-old, and said: "He has been excellent and excelled himself and he is still relatively young.

"When someone does well on loan then you begin to think can they do a job for Manchester United. I think at the moment keepers need to be more experienced.

“He should be happy, he is playing football week in, week out. If he goes to Manchester United and sits on the bench like (Sergio) Romero has done for years, then it isn’t good. If he plays week in, week out then his time will come.”

Meanwhile, the Star understands United will face no difficulties in keeping Henderson – whose loan deal expire in May - until the end of the campaign, which could stretch deep into the summer due to the current football lockdown triggered by the coronavirus outbreak.

As things stand, United sit seventh in the table with ten matches left, and will be eager to push on in their pursuit of Champions League qualification when the season resumes.
