The Blades will face their namesakes from across the Pennines still searching for their first win of the current campaign, and looking to kickstart their survival bid after picking up just a point from their 12 games so far.

Stevens' return from injury couldn't inspire Chris Wilder's men to halt their slump at Southampton, as they lost 3-0 at St Mary's on Sunday afternoon.

And the Republic of Ireland international said: "It's a results business. We need results and we need them quick. It's a busy period over Christmas so we've got to stick at it.

"We've got to go and make it happen, we've got to stand up and be counted now. It's been an horrendous start to the season but only we can affect it. We have to go out there and be men, and put on a big performance starting Thursday because there's plenty of games coming up.

"We can't be looking at last season, this season is this season and we've got to do better."

Ole Gunnar Solskjær's men are eighth in the Premier League table, 19 points ahead of the original United.

"It's another difficult game, they're a massive club but we've got to focus on ourselves and put in a big performance to get us out of this rut that we're in," Stevens added.
