The Scottish midfielder collapsed on the field in the second half, without a Reading player around him, and was taken to hospital after lengthy treatment on the pitch.
He was able to stand, with an oxygen mask on, and United confirmed he was conscious when he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Here’s how we rated United’s players on an evening when the result seemed somewhat secondary...

9. Morgan Gibbs-White 7
Almost lit up a drab first half with a good curling free-kick, which smacked off the Reading crossbar and rebounded to safety. Could have had an assist but Bogle's shot was saved Photo: Simon Bellis

10. Rhian Brewster 6
Recalled at the expense of skipper Sharp, Brewster worked hard for the cause without getting the clear-cut chance he would have liked before being replaced by Sharp. Photo: Simon Bellis

11. David McGoldrick 7.5
Regained his place after coming off the bench at half-time on Saturday and was lively in the opening moments of the game. Lovely deep cross set up the Blades' opener for Bogle and was a threat throughout Photo: Simon Bellis
