The 28-year-old missed Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa through a contact injury picked up in training and Blades boss Chris Wilder has drafted him into the side ahead of John Lundstram, who has dropped to the bench.

Elsewhere, David McGoldrick misses out after picking up a knock in the Villa Park clash while Dutch forward Richairo Zivkovic, on loan from Chinese side Changchun Yatai, has been named among the substitutes.

Here’s how United fans have reacted to the team news on Twitter.

@Justy1Rice Great news Flecky is back. We missed him down the left against Villa. Much better balance today. Confident, come on Blades.

@AdamGil9632344 Not hating but can't believe McBurnie and Sharp are playing together again

@JoeMBell Zivkovic and Moose! I’d love to see them up top at some point

@OllieStubbins Sticking with Berge, hope he starts to show his potential and CW’s faith

@mike_g_sheff Great to see Fleck back #sufc

@R0MYSH Come ooon. Flecky is a massive boost

@yorkshire__dave Is Retsos going back to Bayer then?

@therennock Is Moose unfit? He’s been our stand out striker this year but I can’t remember the last time he started

@_joshchapman98 Daddy is back on Father’s Day

@Steve_W_1889 No issues with Lundstram being dropped. Clearly doesn't want to sign a new contract so play players who want to be here for the foreseeable future, with half an eye on planning for next season
