When Sheffield United face Burnley at Bramall Lane on Saturday it will be almost 15 years since their battle in the 2009 play-off final, at a boiling-hot Wembley Stadium. Wade Elliott's stunning strike settled the game, sealing the Clarets' place in the Premier League and condemning the Blades to another season in the Championship.
United's starting XI, subs and manager have enjoyed varied lives and careers since, with some moving on to grace the Premier League and others dropping down to amateur football before hanging up their boots. One is still a regular for England while another owes an alleged £400,000 to fellow former pros over failed investments. Here's what happened to the class of 2009 in the years since...
9. Stephen Quinn
Quinn came through the academy at United and burst onto the scene in the Premier League, winning 18 caps for his country. He moved to Hull after leaving United and scored against the Blades in the 2014 FA Cup semi-final. Now 37, he is still playing with Mansfield Town under Nigel Clough
10. Greg Halford
A former Premier League star, Halford signed for Isthmian League North Division side Hashtag United last year and helped them to promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division earlier this year. Recently opened up on a podcast about being diagnosed with autism
11. Craig Beattie
Signed for United after his namesake James was sold, but only scored once in red and white and subsequently joined Swansea. Now 39, he was last seen signing for amateur side Stedfast in his native Scotland. His son, Jevan, has since signed for the Blades. Feel old yet? Photo: Dean Atkins
12. Subs: Ian Bennett
A vastly experienced goalkeeper who had two spells at the Blades. Later moved into coaching and after spells at Middlesbrough and Doncaster Rovers, returned to Huddersfield Town as goalkeeper coach last summer. Also big into his horse racing
