Could Sheffield United duo McBurnie and Burke spearhead Scotland's charge for the Euros tonight?

The match, which is being dubbed the biggest in Scottish football for over a decade, could see the country reach the finals of a major tournament for the first time since 1998.

Clarke has selected two players from Bramall Lane for the trip to the Balkans while a third, midfielder John Fleck, would also have travelled had a back injury not ruled him out of action.

Although the loss of Ryan Fraser and James Forrest has weakened Scotland’s attacking options, Clarke said: “I’m still an Oli McBurnie fan because I think he’s still got a lot to offer us. When you look at the last two games he’s hit the frame of the goal twice and you’re always thinking in the back of your mind: ‘He’s due a goal - there’s a goal going to come from him’.

“I’ve also got Oli Burke, who can give you that pace up front that Ryan gave us.”

Clarke admitted he still has “a couple” of selection decisions to make as he attempts to mastermind an upset against the Serbs, who are the favourites to progress. One of those is likely to be up-front, where McBurnie and Burke are competiting for a start together with Lyndon Dykes of Queens Park Rangers.
