O’Connell has missed all but the opening few games of the Premier League season after undergoing surgery to correct a troublesome knee injury, and United have struggled in the absence of one of their talismanic players.

Wilder, who revealed that Sander Berge is undergoing specialist treatment on London on his hamstring injury, said: “Jack’s out on the grass, we’re hoping he can step up his return to training and playing in the next couple of weeks.
