Chris Wilder reveals Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck was RUSHED to hospital before West Ham clash

Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, revealed that John Fleck was rushed into hospital with an as-yet unspecified illness ahead of United's defeat to West Ham United.

United's preparations for the clash at the London Stadium were rocked when Fleck went down with an illness, the exact nature of which Wilder did not disclose after his side's 3-0 defeat in the capital.

"The John Fleck one, I got a call first thing Saturday morning that John's had to go to hospital, he's been rushed in and having tests," Wilder said.

"And you just shake your head.

"I've said about John's performances, he's been excellent recently and found a rhythm and performance.

"So for that to happen is just head-scratching really."

United's frustration was compounded at the London Stadium when John Egan was stretchered off, with his leg in a brace, after hurting himself in a challenge with loanee Jesse Lingard.
