Henderson signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford in the summer before he was allowed to rejoin United on loan for a second season.

Wilder has revealed early discussions have begun with regards another temporary deal for Henderson - but that is the only chance he will return to Bramall Lane.

"It won't be permanent no - not at all.

"The only option would be a loan. I don’t want to go into it too much out of respect for Manchester United but we’d love him back.

"His future is at Manchester United, no doubt. They wouldn't have offered him the contract they did if that wasn't the case and the number would be a huge one if the chance came up... one we couldn't compete with.

"He's expressed his desire to play regular first-team football at Manchester United and we've never wavered from that.

"If there's an option for him to return for another season we would pursue that but he's Manchester United's player, and we'll respect their wishes."
