The defensive duo were absent from last Saturday's trip to West Bromwich Albion after picking up contact injuries in recent weeks.

But Stevens, the Republic of Ireland international, and Wales' Ampadu could return to the United squad as they face Brendan Rodgers' Foxes on Sunday afternoon.

"Enda's close, he'll get every opportunity to be in the squad," Wilder revealed at his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

"There's a chance there, he's worked well and been out on the grass, as we say, and working extremely hard to get back in contention.

"Ethan has trained as well, so we'll make a late decision there but getting back to where we need to be with everyone fit and available. Ethan and Enda are the big ones but hopefully they'll come through training tomorrow and we'll take it from there."

Wilder was also asked about striker Lys Mousset and defender Kean Bryan, who both made their returns to the United side at The Hawthorns.

"Lys has been out for two or three months now and played very few games pre-season, so I wouldn't say so," said Wilder, when asked if Mousset is fit enough to start yet.

"He's getting there, I thought it was a decent contribution if he'll be a little bit disappointed he didn't finish his opportunity.

"I thought Kean did OK, making your debut in the Premier League and it's not like he's been playing behind-closed-doors games.

"He trained well enough and after the first five or 10 minutes he grew into the game and we'll have to wait and see on Sunday.

"But I don't think he was the reason for us conceding a goal [at West Brom] and he wasn't a part of us not taking our chances."

Bryan, the former Manchester City youngster, made his Premier League debut after getting the nod ahead of Jack Robinson, who Wilder said "hadn't done enough" to play at left centre-half with Jack O'Connell, Stevens and Ampadu injured.
