Such is McGoldrick’s all-round contribution to United incredible season, no one at the club or among the fanbase has been concerned that the frontman had’t yet bagged a goal.

Though, they were desperate to see him do it, as deserved reward for his performances throughout the campaign.

The memorable moment finally arrived on Saturday evening when he knocked in from close range to set United on their way to an empthatic 3-0 win over Chelsea and he even grabbed the third for good measure to secure another three points in the push for a European place.

However, while United fans will have been delighted for ‘Didzy’, the man himself dedicated his goals to the supporters who have chanted his name all season.

In a video message posted on the Blades social media after the match, McGoldrick said: “Hello Blades, sorry you weren’t here to see me finally get my goals but it’s a reward for all the love that you showed me all the time. I hope you celebrate with a beer or two tonight ...I will!. Take care.”
