Carabao Cup third round draw sees Sheffield United on the road again

The draw has been made for the third round of the Carabao Cup

Sheffield United will travel to face Fleetwood Town at Highbury in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The draw took place on Wednesday night and after seeing off Blackburn Rovers in the second round, the Blades are heading to the North West again.

Fleetwood booked their place in the third round on Tuesday after a comprehensive 4-0 home victory over Shewsbury Town, thanks to two goals from ex-United striker Ched Evans.

Evans was on target, too, in the first round win over Chesterfield.

United beat Mansfield Town in their first round tie.

This stage of the competition sees the ties split over the course of two midweeks - commencing 7 and 14 September.- to accomodate those teams playing in European competition and ensure there are no clashes.

Details of the date will be confirmed by the club in due course.

Blades boss Chris Wilder had said on Tuesday night following his side’s 2-1 victory at Ewood Park: “ We want to go deep into the competition. We want a big game. All the big boys are coming back into the competition now. The teams in the Premier League and the teams that have qualified for European competition. We want to go and have a go at the competition. So, that's a reward.”
