Callum O'Hare explains Sheffield United transfer exit as Wrexham splash cash again to sign Blades key man
Callum O’Hare admits he “really wanted” to join Wrexham after his exit from Sheffield United was confirmed this evening. The 28-year-old has made the move to North Wales after the Blades accepted their £7m bid earlier this week.
He has penned a three-year deal with the option of a further season, depleting the Blades further in the last few hours of a frustrating window. O’Hare scored 14 goals for the Blades in 83 starts and won the player of the year award last season at Bramall Lane.
He now follows friend and former teammate Gus Hamer out of the exit door with the Blades looking to secure a replacement ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
“The club's so big and well known, and I just really wanted to come here. I'm so excited to get started,” O’Hare said. “I want to help the club go in the right direction and hopefully get what everyone wants – promotion to the Premier League.”
Manager Phil Parkinson added: “We’re delighted to welcome Callum to the club. He's a player with a lot of Championship experience, and he’s going to be a great addition for us, for the coming seasons.”
