Bristol Rovers boss left bemoaning big refereeing decision in FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United

Oliver Burke - with his first Blades goal since a September switch from West Brom - and Jayden Bogle added to an early Joe Day own goal as United secured a long-overdue first win of the season.

Rovers defenders Alfie Kilgour and Max Ehmer equalised from set-pieces for the League One hosts, but United held their nerve to finally win at the 19th attempt this season.

Burke's crucial goal came moments after Jack Baldwin went down on the edge of the Blades box. Tisdale felt that referee Keith Stroud put his whistle to his lips, but play continued and John Fleck played in Burke to put the Blades back ahead.

“I'm 40 or 50 yards away but it seemed as though Jack was probably fouled," Tisdale said.

"But there we are there were plenty of decisions today which could've gone either way.

“Unfortunately, a crucial one went against us. It looked like the referee put his whistle to his mouth but I don't know why he didn't blow.

“He certainly didn't play an advantage because we didn't have the ball, so he must've thought it wasn't a foul or he's changed his mind.

“Ether way it's his decision and we feel a little bit hard done by on that.”

“The fact that we're disappointed in the dressing room afterwards says a lot," Tisdale added.

“But we have got a good chance to build on this for the rest of the season.”
