Sheffield United returned to Championship action this afternoon when they beat Derby County at Bramall Lane.

Wayne Rooney’s side made the trip to South Yorkshire bottom of the table following their 12-point deduction, and suffered further frustration when Billy Sharp fired home an 89th-minute penalty.

This is how the game unfolded, with reaction from both managers.

Blades v Derby LIVE from the Lane

and Roos sees red for Derby after bringing down Sharp when he was through on goal, it’s only a free-kick for the Blades but the opposition are down to 10 men as Roos begins the long walk back - they bring on sub keeper Allsop for Sibley and have also taken off Morrison for Jason Knight

as Sharp wins it off Davies, it looked like it took a last touch off the blades skipper but the hosts get the decision, Norwood takes it... it goes low across the ground and Davies hits it, but it’s blocked by Davies and Derby scramble it clear

And we’re back under way

and although the Blades improved after their slow start, you feel they’ll need to find another gear or two this afternoon if they want to win this game - Derby had a few very good chances of their own and will probably feel aggreived not to be leading and it’ll be interesting to see what Slavisa Jokanovic does at half-time to look to galvanise his side

How did that not go in?

Sharp’s clipped ball in from the left causes chaos as MGW’s header is blocked into Osborn’s path, who looks to poke it in but is denied by Buchanan right at the death and takes a whack for his troubles

Good from Norrington-Davies

as he wins the ball from Sibley as the last man, and then carries it half the length of the field into wide-open space before being felled for a Blades free-kick

as Shinnie hits one from distance, he strikes it well but it looked comfortable enough for the Sweden No.1 - a save for the cameras, maybe!

Huge chance for Derby

as a volley is deflected into the path of Sam Baldock, who snatches at it first time and volleys it just wide of Olsen’s post - another let off for the Blades

Sharp rises highest

to meet Norwood’s corner, but he can’t direct it on target and it goes high over Roos’ crossbar

as Jagielka stabs the ball behind, the Blades are starting to come alive now and string a few passes together after a too-quiet start...
