Sheffield United are sweating on the fitness of Stefan Scougall and Neill Collins ahead of Saturday’s League One encounter at home to Blackpool.
The duo were withdrawn early in United’s 3-1 win at Peterborough on Tuesday evening, which saw Conor Sammon score his first goals in United colours and Jose Baxter get off the mark for the season.
But the first away victory of the season - and a dominant performance - was tempered somewhat by the sight of defender Collins and winger Scougall limping off in the first half at the Abax Stadium.
United manager Nigel Adkins afterwards revealed: Neill Collins has a calf issue that we’ll have to deal with, but we’ll see how he is.
“Stefan has a gash on his ankle from an early challenge, it was quite nasty and that’s why he had to come off.
“It was a shame because he’s really contributed, the same as Neill, so we’ll see how he is. But we saw Jay McEveley go to centre-half and young Kieran Wallace go to left back and do well. He’s primarily a central midfielder but we used him at centre-half in pre-season and at left-back here, and he’s done well.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t keep a clean sheet but it was a good, entertaining game.”
