The first game back for the Premier League ended in stalemate, with Chris Wilder’s men so unlucky after being denied what looked a perfectly good goal by a problem with Hawkeye technology in an incredible twist to the tale which could have a huge effect on their season.
But how did the players fare on their return after more than three months without a game? Here’s how we rated the Blades at Villa Park...
5. George Baldock - 6
Broke at pace a couple of times from defence but understandably the usual connection with his teammates wasn't quite there and will take a bit of time to get back Photo: CARL RECINE
6. Enda Stevens - 6
Always an option on the left wing, Stevens linked up well with his Ireland teammate McGoldrick after he came off the bench Photo: Pool
7. Ollie Norwood
Should have put United ahead when his wicked free-kick was carried over the goalline by Villa 'keeper Nyland, but the technology failed - somehow, in the supposed best league in the world Photo: CARL RECINE
8. Sander Berge - 6
Looked comfortable on the ball when he had it but couldn't create a great deal for the United strikers and was replaced by Luke Freeman with about 20 minutes left Photo: CARL RECINE
