VIDEO: 'Sheffield United's victory over MK Dons was a key one, even at this early stage'

Have your say

They say the league table doesn't lie... but, in the case of Sheffield United's opponents today, MK Dons, it clearly does.

Dons went into their clash with United languishing at the wrong end of the table but showed their undoubted qualities in an interesting League One clash against Chris Wilder's Blades today.

United eventually prevailed 2-1, with goals from Stefan Scougall and Billy Sharp either side of Darren Potter's equaliser, and James Shield - The Star's Blades writer - said: "This was a key game already, even at this early stage of the season.

"It kept United in touch with the early pace setters in League One, and forced United to show reserves of character. They had to withstand difficult periods and although we say they don't, league tables sometimes do lie. MK came to Sheffield without a manager but with a plan and a lot of talent, and posed United some real problems.

"United thought their way through the game, they had a lot of tactical switches and coped well. You have to give credit to MK for forcing the changes but when United were asked questions, particularly after Potter's equaliser, they came up with the answers."
