Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, joined Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon in the stands at Tynecastle as his goalkeeper Dean Henderson helped England under-21's preserve their unbeaten record against Scotland.
Wilder, whose team visits Derby County on Saturday, travelled to watch yesterday's match after overseeing training at the Steelphalt Academy. Gerrard, now in charge of Rangers, and Hibernian's' Neil Lennon were also present.
Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, started both the meeting with Scott Gemmill's side and last week's victory over Andorra at Chesterfield, which sealed the Young Lions' place at next year's European finals in Italy and San Marino. He is expected to face to Italians' next month, after a friendly against the host nation was confirmed.
"It’s a great chance to not only play a very good Italian team, but also for the players to experience the country itself before we are based there during the tournament," Aidy Boothroyd, England's head coach, said. "It’s also a chance to start working on how we want to play in the tournament, our game plans and getting our best squad together.
"We’re looking to play other top European teams ahead of the tournament, so we’re in the best position possible to do well next summer."
Henderson has made 12 appearances for United so far this term and travels to Pride Park hoping for a third straight clean sheet after helping Wilder's squad reach the top of the Championship table.
