Blades hope for change in luck

Sheffield United midfielder Paul Coutts believes a slight change in fortunes will see the Blades’ promotion push get back on track.

The Scot has pointed to last week’s draw with Southend, a game which saw United hit the woodwork three times in the second half, as proof that they are lacking a little luck and when that changes, Nigel Adkins side will begin racking up the points.

However, the 27 year old admits that he and his team mates must keep working hard to ensure that they don’t become reliant on having the small margins switch in their favour.

United’s next challenge comes on Saturday away to third-placed Walsall, a team in form and positioned just two points off the top of League One.

“I think we have actually performed pretty well, we’ve just not had the rub of the green,” said Coutts. “We hit the post a few times on Saturday (against Southend) and then one of their lads’ goes in off the post. Hopefully things will change in that sense and we can get three points on Saturday.

“I think in general performances have been ok, we’re just not getting the little bits of luck. We just need to do a little bit more when you are not getting the luck to make sure we win the game.

“We are expected to win every game and believe we can, in the dressing room, so Saturday will be no different.”
