Blades hit back to win at Raith

Sheffield United defeated Raith 2-1 with goals from Kevin McDonald and Jamie Murphy.

United were looking for more success in Scotland tonight in their friendly at Raith Rovers. The kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes due to travel problems.However United found themselves on the back foot when they went a goal down, before first half goals from McDonald and Murphy put them in the driving seat.

For one United in particular, Stephen McGinn, it felt something like familiar territory.

The midfielder, signed recently from Watford,said: “My family home is just across the water from our training base, less than 10 minutes away, so it is a little like home from home.”

For striker Richard Cresswell it is a case of encountering something different on one of his many pre-seasons. He said:“There’s much more of a techsnical and scientific approach. The days of running up terraces are probably over.”
