The big headache facing Sheffield United ahead of this weekend's game against Fulham

Sheffield United’s bid to put their Premier League season back on track have been complicated by the fact Chris Wilder expects to have only 48 hours to prepare for Sunday’s crucial game against Fulham.

Although Aaron Ramsdale returned to South Yorkshire today having spent the international break with England’s under-21 squad, the likes of John Fleck, Enda Stevens, David McGoldrick and John Egan, who has been caught up in a Covid-19 scare involving the Republic of Ireland, are not expected to report for duty until Friday afternoon - only two days before Scott Parker’s side travel to South Yorkshire.

However with Stephen Kenny’s side flying home from Finland - and Norway’s Sander Berge and Ethan Ampadu of Wales travelling from Oslo and Bulgaria respectively - the amount of time Wilder will spend with a full complement of players at his disposal is likely to be further limited. Indeed, coaching staff are planning to have only one full training session to run through their tactics for the clash with Fulham, who will also enter the fixture searching for their first point of the new campaign.

United, who expect to hand record signing Rhian Brewster his debut after signing the centre-forward from Liverpool, have lost all four of their opening matches this term. However, Brewster’s presence has raised hopes they can begin to convert more of the opportunities they create, with Wilder partly attributing the recent losses to Leeds and Arsenal to their lack of cutting edge in the opposition’s final third.
