Berge, United’s club record signing, evidently did not order too many chip butties in his native Norway – nor was he offered too many ‘chuddys’ whilst playing in Belgium with Genk.

But, in a hilarious video posted to United’s social media channels, Berge was given a crash course in Sheffield speak by skipper Billy Sharp, who grew up in the city.

And Berge certainly seemed to take the lesson on board. The midfielder turned 22 on Valentine’s Day, while away with his United teammates in Dubai, and later posted a picture on his Instagram feed of him stroking his chin, with the caption: “When you see what the lads planned for your birthday. #chuffedtobits.”

Blades fan John Hallam said: “Sander Berge, a Manor lad through and through! This is what makes our club unique in the Premier League, so down to earth and grounded. Love it.”

David Morewood added: “Wonderful. Sander has a great laugh. It looks as though Wilder has found another gem that fits right into the family.”
