Opinion seems to be divided amongst supporters as to the approach Paul Heckingbottom should take at The Den, with United going so well in the league. Should he rest a number of key men and prioritise the promotion push, or play a strong team and aim to maintain his side’s positive momentum since the Championship season resumed?
We tasked our man Danny Hall to step into Heckingbottom’s shoes and select the side he would send out to face the Lions on Saturday afternoon. Do you agree or would you do things differently?
9. Tommy Doyle
In a similar boat, Doyle has recently come back from injury and could probably use the minutes in his legs. Can anchor midfield while his City teammate wreaks havoc Photo: David Klein
10. James McAtee
Looked bright when he came off the bench at QPR and makes my side for Millwall to offer United a creative spark Photo: David Klein
11. Daniel Jebbison
I was tempted to select Reda Khadra until Paul Heckingbottom confirmed he wants to return to Brighton and any player who doesn’t want to play for this great club doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near it. Jebbison was also impressive off the bench at QPR Photo: David Klein
12. Billy Sharp
If he wasn’t suspended, and cup tied, I’d be tempted to play Will Osula but then he wouldn’t be allowed to leave again. Iliman Ndiaye deserves a rest for me, while all United’s other senior forwards are injured. So Sharp leads my line, with a potential sub for youngster Louie Marsh later on? Photo: Andrew Yates
