BOYHOOD Sheffield United fan Frank Barlow has been appointed the club’s new assistant manager.
The 64-year-old, who hails from Mexborough, teams back up with boss Danny Wilson, who replaced Micky Adams at Bramall Lane at the end of last month.
Barlow said: “I suppose I’ve come full circle. There were two real pulls to take this job.
“The first is to work with Danny Wilson again. He’s a top quality manager and a trustworthy man and the other is the opportunity to return to my first club.”
Snapped up by the Blades as a 14-year-old, Barlow went on to make more than 140 appearances before leaving Bramall Lane in 1972.
He also played for Chesterfield and his coaching roles included a stint at Sheffield Wednesday.
