'In United's heads?'

A former Villa player says the strange surroundings at Villa Park tonight could have an impact on Sheffield United’s preparations and ’mess with their heads’. Alan Hutton told Football Insider that he felt that the fact that Blades players will be getting ready in converted executive  boxes, while Villa have extended their space by knocking through the home and away dressing rooms could have an impact in Chris Wilder’s side.

“It’s not ideal, I’d like to see how they’re going to work that because obviously I know the layout of the stadium so both the home and away dressing room are both very big within Villa Park.

“If they’re thinking about using both and putting the away team somewhere else, it definitely messes with your head a little bit. Even if you’re a player going into an away dressing room, you know the surroundings – you know where the showers are, you know what it looks like.

“To be carted off somewhere else, to have to walk downstairs and round about to get to out on to the pitch, it does mess with you a little bit. I think they’re maybe using this to their advantage a little bit and trying to get one up."

“There’s going to be more people watching than usual, even though we won’t be able to see or hear them. But that won’t affect us, because we know that our fans are still with us.”

'O'Connell out for Villa clash' and Fleck is a 'doubt' - reports

Blades defender Jack O’Connell will reportedly miss tonight’s match against Aston Villa due to a knee injury, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The centre-back has been an ever present for United this season, playing every single minute of their top flight campaign.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph is also reporting that midfielder John Fleck is also a doubt.

The Scotland midfielder has been a key part of Wilder’s team this season, scoring five goals.

Chris Wilder previously said he has a full squad to choose from so we shall see.

We’ll have confirmation of the team news around 5pm so remember to check back later on.
