Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang discovers if he will be able to face Sheffield United in Premier League as Gunners suffer another injury blow

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's red card for violent conduct at Crystal Palace has been upheld – meaning he will miss the game against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United this weekend.

Aubameyang was sent off midway through the second half of Saturday's 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park after catching Max Meyer high on the ankle with a poor challenge by the touchline.

Referee Paul Tierney showed a yellow card, but the Video Assistant Referee had a look and, after a two-and-a-half-minute delay, the caution was upgraded to a dismissal.

The Gabon forward was distraught as he left the pitch and Meyer had to follow him down the tunnel after failing to recover from the tackle.

Aubameyang - who has 16 goals in all competitions this season - will miss the club's next three games, which include a trip to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be without Sead Kolasinac for Saturday's Premier League match against United.

The left-back is struggling with a thigh strain and the Gunners hope the 26-year-old will be fit for the London derby at Chelsea next week.

With Kolasinac absent and Kieran Tierney already sidelined following a dislocated shoulder, head coach Mikel Arteta will need to find a solution for the left side of his defence when the Blades visit.

Teenager Bukayo Saka, nominally a winger, has played there on occasion while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another option.
