United hit the woodwork three times, through John Egan, debutant Anis Slimane and striker Will Osula, as Paul Heckingbottom again fielded different sides in both halves, with Slimane and Iliman Ndiaye catching the eye in particular.
Here’s how we rated United’s players on the night...

9. Ben Osborn 6
Again lined up in a more advanced position behind Daniel Jebbison and looked bright and busy, running the left channel and always being available for Larouci in particular to link up with. Had one mix-up with Jebbison when either were well placed to take on the ball, but neither did. | Getty Images

10. Iliman Ndiaye 7
Showed typical Ndiaye magic in his time on the pitch, including a sublime nutmeg on his marker who resorted to chopping him down in retaliation. Should have had at least an assist in his time on the pitch but Fleck scuffed his shot. Serenaded with chants from the travelling Blades urging him to sign a new contract | Sheffield United

11. Daniel Jebbison 6
Got the nod in the first-half team in Oli McBurnie’s absence for his first appearance of pre-season and forced Maques to take a yellow card for dragging him down after a dangerous burst forward. Had a running battle with his centre-half which resulted in both getting a talking to. Showed his undoubted physical attributes, without the clear-cut chance to get off the mark for pre-season | Sheffield United

12. Wes Foderingham 6
Made a very smart stop down to his left to deny Joao Carlos scoring the opening goal of the game after Estoril broke quickly. Had a couple more routine saves from the same striker before another good stop in injury time to stop Serginho winning it for his side | SUFC
