Aaron Ramsdale hails Sheffield United fans for helping Blades over line against Burnley
Aaron Ramsdale says Sheffield United’s supporters helped their side over the line against Burnley after admitting he hopes the last-day victory gave them something to cheer about after a “poor season”.
Ramsdale suffered a second relegation in two years from the top-flight as United followed the route of Bournemouth back to the Championship, but the goalkeeper excelled individually to pick up a second player of the year award in as many seasons.
Ramsdale was serenaded with chants of ‘England’s No.1’ as he played his first senior game in front of Blades fans at Bramall Lane, and said: “The win was hugely important.
“We spoke about taking some momentum into next season and in the last five or six games, we’ve had wins and good performances.
“So we’ve come out of this period with momentum and something for the fans to have a slight cheer throughout a poor season. It was amazing that they could see it and they helped us in that last 20 minutes.”
