Ramsdale, who rejoined the Blades in the summer from Bournemoth to replace Dean Henderson, was beaten by a shot by Marcus Rashford that squirmed under the body of the goalkeeper.

Ramsdale has endured a difficult start to his second United career, with the Blades' defence uncharacteristically leaky and the team overall struggling for confidence.

And, ahead of Sunday's trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, Ramsdale tweeted: "Disappointed with how tonight went after a great effort from the lads, I’ll take all the criticism on the chin and go again this weekend."

Chris Wilder’s, Ramsdale’s manager, said: “I think Ole [Gunnar Solskjær] and his staff and players would accept we were going to try and make it competitive tonight. In a lot of ways it was, but we're disappointed with the goals we've conceded.”
