Did well to push the lively Lingard onto his weaker foot and into a narrow angle after finding himself one-on-one with the England international. Looked visibly frustrated with his teammates' defensive work in West Ham's second goal. Hurt himself in a last-ditch challenge to block a Lingard shot and left the field in a leg brace, giving United something else to worry about Photo: Pool

Has improved immensely of late, but does need to improve his aerial defending of set-pieces if he has ambitions of playing at this level as a defender in the years to come. Bullied by Diop for West Ham's second goal. Took a nasty whack to the nose from Lingard late in the first half, suffering a bloody nose for his troubles. Photo: Simon Bellis

Gave away an early penalty after catching Dawson a split-second late, but he was let off the hook when VAR ruled that Dawson was offside. Showed some nice moments, including link up with Osborn leading to a good cross, but just looked a little off the pace - which is understandable, given his recent absence through injury Photo: David Klein

Wonderful whipped cross from deep created a chance for McGoldrick, but he couldn't divert his effort on target. Had more touches than anyone else on the field in the first half, but a sloppy pass in midfield cost United dear as West Ham broke and Basham gave away the penalty. Replaced by McBurnie.
