Wilder’s tenure at United officially ended today as an official statement confirmed that he had departed, by mutual consent.

The former Blades player led United to two promotions, from League One to the Premier League, during his time in charge, but a breakdown in relations with the Bramall Lane board have led to his departure and caused an outpouring of grief from stricken Blades supporters.

"Being manager of Sheffield United has been a special journey and one I'll never forget,” Wilder said.
