Paul Stancliffe, Rob Page and Chris Morgan, who between them played over 630 games for the Blades, will be part of the club's 'Blades Captains' evening on Friday, April 6.

All three ex-skippers will be on stage for a Q and A session led by club historian and engagement officer John Garrett, looking at the careers of the trio, talking in detail about the highs, the lows, the laughs and also the tears.

Paul Stancliffe joined the Blades from Rotherham after being signed by Ian Porterfield and he became a much-respected skipper, playing a key part in two promotions.

Welsh international Rob Page came through the ranks at Watford before Neil Warnock persuaded the defender to make the journey to South Yorkshire.

Chris Morgan cut his teeth at Barnsley before becoming an iconic skipper for United, leading them to the Premier League in 2006.

Last month, the Yorkshire Post told how Morgan is now enjoying a new lease of life in his role as a football agent.

A Sheffield United spokesman said: "These are three very different characters, but they all still ooze red, white and black blood through their veins.

"They have a special love for the club that they all served with such distinction.

"This will be a real cracker of a night and a fantastic way to warm up for the following day’s South Yorkshire Derby between the Blades and Barnsley at Oakwell."

The event takes place in the 1889 Suite at Bramall Lane. Doors open at 7pm for fans to mingle and meet before a one-course dinner is served at 7.30pm.
