Although United’s current No.1 Aaron Ramsdale had his Euros dream dashed when he was left out of Southgate’s final 26, having been called up to the extended 33-man squad, there will be some Steel City representation this summer as England look to make the most of some home advantage.

John Stones, from Barnsley, has also been included in Southgate’s final squad, as has former Blades loanee Conor Coady, now of Wolves.

Maguire got the nod from Southgate despite concerns over his fitness – the former Blade, now of Manchester United, missed the Europa League final with an ankle injury – while Walker, who also came through United’s academy, will be looking to get over the disappointment of Manchester City’s defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League final.

Calvert-Lewin will be hoping to build on a successful season with Everton at the finals while Walker survived the cull despite Southgate’s abundance of talent at right-back, with Reece James, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier also named in the initial 33-man gathering. All four have been named in the final 26.

England face Austria in a pre-Euros warm-up game in Middlesbrough tomorrow evening.

England squad: Dean Henderson, Sam Johnstone, Jordan Pickford, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Reece James, Harry Maguire Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice, Dom Calvert-Lewin, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling.
