Sheffield Schools FA Under-11 are just two stages away from a trip to Morocco to represent England in the Danone Nations World Cup final.
Sheffield will tomorrow compete in the regional finals of the Cup - the world’s biggest football tournament for 10-12 year olds - at AFC Sunderland Academy.
Regional winners will go on to a national final where the winners will earn a place in the finals in Morocco later this year.
Each year, 2.5m children worldwide play in the competition, which has former French World Cup winner, Zinedine Zidane as international ambassador. More than 3,000 schools compete in the English leg run by the English Schools’ FA.
The Cup is a unique FIFA-approved tournament is an annual highlight in Danone’s ongoing programme of support for healthy lifestyles through education, fun and fairplay, which includes its ‘Eat Like A Champ’ healthy eating initiative.
Tomorrow is Sheffield Schools FA finals day at Warninster Road when the matches, all kicking off at 10am, are - Year 7: Westfield v Meadowhead; Year 8: Westfield v All Saints or Handsworth; Year 9: Ecclesfield v Newfield; Year 10: Ecclesfield v Meadowhead or King Ecgberts.
