Women's Football

The European Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup winners are heading to Dronfield for an exhibition match with Sheffield FC Ladies.

Arsenal Ladies are currently the best women's team in Europe after enjoying a 100 per cent record in every game they played last season, collecting four trophies along the way.

It is expected that they will field their first team tonight. The team includes a number of England internationals who will be representing their country at the Women's World Cup in China in September.

Sheffield FC Ladies achieved runners-up spot in their North East Regional League Division One, their third top-three finish in as many years.

Club also reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 2-1 extra-time win against a Huddersfield side who are a division above them and were top of the Premier Division at the time.

The visit of Arsenal forms part of Sheffield FC's 150th anniversary celebrations this year and the fixture will be the ladies' biggest ever game in their short history.
