Rovers hit by injuries

DONCASTER Rovers could be without all three scorers in last season's corresponding game in Sunday's League One Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield Town at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Jonathan Forte is now at Scunthorpe while striker Mark McCammon, who notched the first goal at the stadium when opening the scoring, is again ruled out with a hamstring strain.

Striker Paul Heffernan, who was also on target in the 3-0 win over the Terriers on New Year's Day, is one of several players set to face a late fitness test. Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll is hoping the fact that Heffernan, Martin Woods, Gareth Roberts, Steve Roberts and Jason Price will have an extra 24 hours to recover from their various injury problems, will result in several of them being declared fit.

"I would say that Paul, Martin and Jason have got the best chances of playing," said O'Driscoll.

If Steve Roberts, who was hoping to resume training today after suffering a badly bruised foot in Saturday's game at Luton, is ruled out Scottish defender Gordon Greer will return to the squad.

"Gordon, who has continued to train since having his scaphoid pinned a couple of weeks ago, had his cast off in midweek so is available again," said the Doncaster boss.

If both Heffernan and Price fail to make the game, O'Driscoll said that he would have no worries about pairing James Hayter and James Coppinger together again.

"I felt that they formed a really good partnership at Luton and Copps set James Hayter up for his goal," he said.

"They gave a quite physical Luton back-four problems because they played them in areas where the defenders didn't want to go.

"I didn't play Copps up front and I gave him quite a free role and he was the link between the other players and James Hayter."

Rovers go into the game still looking for their first back-to-back wins in the league - a situation the Terriers also find themselves in.
