The Millers boss has revealed the club have bids in for players ahead of their return to the second tier of English football.

Warne has spoken about his desire to protect the sustainability of the club long term and the Millers will once again be punching above their weight in terms of budget next season.

Play-off winning manager Warne has already met with a few potential summer signings and is hopeful the lure of Championship football can ward off other interested parties.

He said: “What will definitely happen by going into the Championship, the targets I had, some were interested if we were going to be in League One, but very interested if we were in the Championship.

“There is more chance for me to push them over the line now we’re in the Championship.

“The people I have met, it is all about what is your character going to be like if you are not in the team. It is easy to be a great player and a great bloke if you are in the team and scoring goals, but what are you like when you are not. That remains the same as last year.

“I am all about personality and good human beings. I like proper people. I like proper athletes.”

Meanwhile, the Millers reportedly have a bid on the table for Barnsley’s Tom Bradshaw.

The 25-year-old was the Reds’ top scorer last season as they were relegated to League One. Welsh international Bradshaw is likely to command a decent price tag having been bought for £600,000 in the summer of 2016.

The Millers will find out who they will face in their first game back in the second tier this morning. Fixtures are set to be released at 9am, with the club eagerly awaiting news of their first outing.

Warne will be hoping his charges can get off to a flying start come August.
