Have your say

for Rotherham United manager Steve Evans, it all started at Stamford, the Lincolnshire club who host a Millers side tonight.

“I was just running a local Sunday team there - just playing at it - and would watch Stamford for something to do on a Saturday,” he said.

“Out of the blue I got a call to say go and have a chat and I got the job, my first proper one in senior football.

“We got promotion, couldn’t go up because of the ground, improved the ground and got promoted again the next season and we were top of Conference South when Boston United came calling.

“It’s a good club with good people and I’m still friends with people there. It’s a nice pitch to play on too.”

Evans has a dilemma because Rotherham’s opponents in the Capital One Cup on Saturday, Hull City. play Norwich tonight and Evans has to decide whether to check them out in what is Steve Bruce’s first game in charge at the KC Stadium or go back to Stamford who are now in the Evo-Stik League.
