NEW striker Jordan Slew could be lined up for a dramatic start to his loan spell at Rotherham United this afternoon.

Manager Steve Evans is understood to be contemplating plunging in the 20-year-old who arrived on deadline day on a short-term loan from Blackburn Rovers.

Slew, formerly at Sheffield United before a £1.3 million move to Blackburn in the summer of 2011, has not been in first team action since September during a loan spell at Oldham. Then he was sidelined with back trouble.

He will bring pace to the squad and it could be that Evans, rather than put him on the bench, will decide to throw him straight in against Northampton at the New York Stadium.

The Millers manager has been tracking the player since seeing him on loan at Stevenage last season.

“He’s a young man with explosive pace and he works hard and he’ll bring assets to us,” said Evans.

The other young striker on loan at the club, Craig Morgan, is set to return to Liverpool at the end of his loan spell after the game at Burton Albion next week.
