Rotherham United have today captured West Ham United winger Blair Turgott on a youth loan.
The former Colchester United and Bradford City loanee, who recently made his senior debut for the Hammers in their recent FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest, has become the Millers fourth signing of the January transfer window. Rotherham boss Steve Evans has already recruited Miles Addison, Tom Hitchcock and Wes Thomas.
Turgott, an England-Under 19 international, trained with his new teammates for the first time this morning. He will go straight into their squad for tomorrow’s trip to Shrewsbury Town. He will remain at the New York Stadium until February 15.
“We have been monitoring the situation closely and we are delighted to add him to our squad,” Evans said.
“The player has recently come back from a loan spell at Colchester United. Joe Dunne the manager at Colchester, who is a man I have tremendous respect for, was desperate to keep him but West Ham had a few injuries and took him back.
“It is no secret that as soon as he joined Colchester their fortunes quickly turned around. He started three out of the four games he was available for and they got two wins during that time.”
