League One newcomers Rotherham United have today completed the signing of midfielder Michael Tidser from Greenock Morton, writes Dom Howson.
The 23-year-old, recruited for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £50,000, becomes the Millers seventh summer signing.
Tidser, voted in the Scottish First Division Team of the Year last season, joined Morton in 2010 from Swedish club Ostersunds, featuring 118 times, hitting 15 goals.
It is understood Tidser turned down interest from a number of SPL clubs and another League One club to move to Rotherham. He has penned a two-year deal, with the option of a further year and is available to play against Morton next Tuesday.
Rotherham manager Steve Evans, who is looking to sign a new striker, said: “Young Michael is a player that we are delighted to have recruited given the options the young man has had since the end of the season. He is young, has a great pedigree and is now ready to establish himself back at a higher level of football.”
