There was every chance Millers skipper Craig Morgan would come up against a former club in the Play-offs - he’s played for two of the other three.
He joined Rotherham in August 2012 from Preston who had signed him for £450,000 from Peterborough who kick off the League One Play-offs at home to Leyton Orient today (12.15).
“I had two good years at Peterborough with two promotions on the bounce so we could replicate that here,” he said.
“It was expected a little bit more at Peterborough so it would be more of an achievement to do it here and the fact that I have captained the team would be great to have that under my belt.
“At Preston it wasn’t a great time to be at the club. There were some good footballers who came to the club but it didn’t work out, it was just one of those weird situations where you can’t put your finger on what went wrong.
“It’s a bonus for us to be where we are. I don’t think anyone would have realistically thought we would finish joint third. We might have been underdogs at the beginning of the year but I don’t think we are underdogs going into the play-offs,” added Morgan.
“We’re both there for a reason. We score a lot of goals and both got pretty good defensive records. It’s about not making mistakes and going from there. I don’t think you can call it.”
