INJURY victim Dale Tonge will be available for selection in a “couple of weeks”, according to Rotherham United manager Steve Evans.

The popular right-back has not kicked a ball in anger since the final day of last season because of an achilles problem.

But Evans says Tonge is nearing a first-team return and plans on sending him out on loan to build up his match sharpness.

“Tongey will be a couple of weeks before he’s in full training and then he will be available to possibly go out on loan. There will be clubs desperate to take him because he’s a good player,” said Evans. “We’re hoping the shockwave treatment he’s had on his achilles works.”

Chesterfield, who host the Millers this afternoon, have re-signed Liam Ridehalgh on a one-month loan deal from Huddersfield Town. The left-back made 20 appearances for the Spireites last term.
